Chengdu Itinerary Planner

Plan Chengdu beyond a panda visit and a food list. Start early for the city's best-known wildlife experience, then slow down through museums, temples, parks, teahouses, and neighborhoods that make Chengdu feel different from a rushed sightseeing stop.

First visit

Plan the shape before the stops

Chengdu works best when its high-demand anchor and its slow-city rhythm are not forced into the same pace. A panda morning needs an easier afternoon. A museum or historical site adds context, while a park teahouse and neighborhood walk explain how the city is lived. China Go organizes those layers without asking food stops to carry the whole itinerary.

Recommended trip lengths

Choose the pace that fits

  1. 2 days

    Compact Chengdu

Use one early panda block and one city day for tea, temple, park, or neighborhood culture.

  2. 3 days

    Recommended for most first-time visitors

Add ancient Shu, literature, or Three Kingdoms history while keeping at least one unhurried tea or park stop.

  3. 4 days

    Deeper city rhythm

Protect more time for museums, neighborhoods, food context, and recovery before considering a separate regional day trip.

First-time highlights

Three layers to protect

  1. Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

Plan an early, focused visit and keep the rest of that day lighter.

  2. Park and teahouse rhythm

Sit down long enough for tea to become part of the itinerary rather than a quick photo.

  3. Temple, museum, and neighborhood layers

Use Wenshu Monastery, ancient Shu history, or another cultural anchor to understand Chengdu beyond its icons.

Ticket planning

Secure the most restrictive booking first, then shape the rest of the day around it.

Book in advance

Chengdu Panda Base — reserve the entry period first

Tickets can currently be booked up to 14 days in advance and sales stop when the daily quota is full. Entry is split into morning and afternoon periods. If an early panda visit anchors your itinerary, secure the morning period before arranging the slower afternoon. The booking is real-name, and visitors should carry the original valid identity document used for the reservation.

Official Panda Base tickets

Check current rules

Check which panda site you are buying

A Chengdu Research Base ticket does not include Dujiangyan Panda Valley. The Panda Museum inside the Base also uses a separate free reservation with its own daily capacity.

Official Panda Museum information

Animal visibility and operating arrangements are not guaranteed by a ticket. China Go can protect the time block, but it cannot promise a specific animal encounter.
